Toccoa River (Upper and Lower)
The Toccoa River is divided into the upper and lower by Lake Blue Ridge. The Toccoa is a great place for anglers to float fish.
Float fishing trips provide an opportunity for anglers to experience something different than fishing from public access areas. Here you can catch rainbow trout, brown trout, and brook trout (the only truly native trout to Georgia).
The Hiwassee River cascades its way north through Georgia, where it flows into the waters of Lake Chatuge. From there, it flows westward into far western North Carolina, near Murphy.
Float fishing the Hiwassee is a great option, as many of its banks are privately owned. You’ll be able to catch both brown trout and large rainbow trout as well.
